For intrinsic exercises of lumbricals and interossei. The physiotherapist carefully mobilises the hand/fingers prior to application of the splint. The splint is applied to bare skin over the 4 fingers only (leaving the thumb free). The dorsal side of the splint is inflated first in order to support finger extension. The air on the palmar side should prevent discomfort during finger exercises and help maintain finger posture.
